My Poor Baby Boy!

Well today I managed to venture out of the house for one of the kids' many Doctor appointments. Of course I still arrived 10 minutes late. An almost usual occurrence for us. Thank heavens for that 15 minute grace period for all of the Doctors we see. If it weren't for that we would be doing a lot of cancellation fees and rescheduling. Anyway, today I took Morgan to see the Ear, Nose and Throat Doctor.

Morgan has a lot of what they call " Negative Pressure" in his ears. They apply pressure in the ear canal to see how much give the ear drum has in order to determine what kind of treatment to give. Needless to say Morgan has no give. In fact the Doctor noticed while taking pictures of his ear drum that during one of his last ear infections he broke his ear drum and it has started to heal.

So for the last year there has been a list of things I have been complaining about to his regular physician. Waking up at night, but almost immediately going back to sleep, but when he's up he complains about different parts of his body, a half choking noise he makes while sleeping, unexplained all the time coughing and draining . And so much more. Well the Doctor said that once his tubes are in place a majority of his symptoms I have been complaining about will be gone. Can you believe just putting tubes in his ear will make him sleep straight through the night.

Oh I forgot. The E.N.T. said you can tell this kid sees the Dr a lot for his ears. Because, Morgan just turned his head each way for them to look and just sat there like nothing was even happening, and Morgan who just stopped taking an antibiotic  3 weeks ago is starting another infection. BLAH! My poor baby.

I can't believe no one even noticed his ear drum burst during an infection and didn't think to say hey I think he should see a specialist. All the while my baby has been suffering as well as the rest of us. So infuriating!

On a different note:

Friday, Eva has her 6 month check up and shots. Hopefully she has put on some pounds. Her being on Soy milk hasn't really helped her with the weight gain, but I'm sure hoping that all of the sweet potatoes, carrots, peas, peaches, butternut squash and pears has helped pack on the pounds.

I guess that's all for now on my update.

I am Thankful For.....

Today I am thankful for Fathers. Jake is the best Father and Husband anyone could ask for. I couldn't have picked a better person to spend Eternity with. Jake is always willing to help me and the kids whenever we need him.

His sacrifice for us means the world to me. Time away at work, and peace and quiet at home are just a couple of things he has to sacrifice. I am thankful for his Priesthood, that he is worthy to hold the priesthood and actively helps me to teach our children.

FHE is sometimes a hard thing to do in our home, but Jake is patient and understanding. Taking the time to teach simple gospel principles that will allow Morgan to have a full and better knowledge of  the temple and the covenants he will someday make.

I posted earlier about Morgan and his prayers. Well He now says a whole prayer, most of which Jake and I don't understand, but we always catch Jesus, this day, Eva and Amen.

I'm thankful for his love of the gospel and his passion to teach our children to love and obey their Savior.

Another Funny Moment With Our Darling Two Year Old.

The kids and I have been planning to take Jake out for Father's day all week. So yesterday morning when Morgan woke up I said, " we're going to the zoo today." Morgan very candidly replied, " Mommy, I need shoes," then he grabs his foot and says, " I have none." Jake and I were laughing so hard I thought for sure at least one of us would pee our pants.

Anytime we go anywhere the first thing he says he needs is his shoes. He is more worried about his shoes than anything, which I find funny. Sometimes he doesn't have anything on, and he will go and put his shoes on and start pointing to the door and shouting, " OU-side"

Our trip to the zoo was absolutely miserable and yet somehow we ended up being there for two hours. Oh my goodness, it was so HOT, and there were so many people. We finally just left and yet we didn't really see anything. I think that's the best part.

On to an early dinner. After the zoo we went to The Mayan in Sandy. Usually it is really really packed, but yesterday we were able to get right in and sit down. Now I don't know if anyone has been there lately but they have changed there dive show. Indiana Jones makes a star appearance, and fights it out with two BEEFY DIVERS. Morgan thought it was just the greatest thing since sliced bread. He wouldn't even eat his food. No surprise there right?

LOOK!

Ok so I know no one really wants to read about this, but its funny and I have to remember when it happened.

So last night Morgan needed to go #2 so I told him he had to go sit on the potty. Now some background. Morgan has been doing really well at telling us when he needs to Pee even when we are out and about. We have even started to take our chances and allow him to wear the cutest boxer briefs ever out in public.

Anyway, the point is he has been doing really well. But when it comes to #2 he would pretend he was going on the potty but not actually do it and then we have to put a diaper on him and let him go. So back to the story.....

I tell Morgan to go sit on the potty. Morgan disappears, and soon appears and says, "Mommy Come On!" So off we trot to the bathroom. When I get there he as prepped his environment. The stool has been pushed all the way up to the toilet, his little toilet converter was in place ( for those who don't know its a toilet seat inside the toilet seat so he doesn't fall in.), and Morgan is grabbing his butt and screaming at me " Mommy I have poopyyyyyy," so like any good mother I sit him up on the toilet and he just starts talking away and every once in a while I would say " oh yeah," and then Morgan would say "yep" but in this really strained I'm pooping voice.

So he finally finishes and he hops down, looks in the toilet and turns to me, and says, " Look, See, it's the poopy!" All while pointing and his head in the toilet to get a better look.

Anyway, not to brag or anything but Morgan is only 2 years and 34 days old and he is just about POTTY TRAINED!

WOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A Day Late.....BUT I am Thankful For...

So I am thankful for Family Prayer. Morgan is now saying a prayer before we can even bow our heads. Then when Jake is ready to start Morgan shouts "AMEN" it has got to be one the most hilarious things ever.

So Jake at first patiently tells Morgan to fold his arms again and Morgan does but then yells Amen.

It really is the simple things like your two year old Shouting AMEN that really brings about your feelings of true gratitude.

I am so thankful for a Father in Heaven who hears and answers all of my prayers,  even when I am not living to my fullest potential. I am thankful that he allows the Holy Ghost to comfort me throuhgout my day with my Kids. Anyone who is anyone has a prayer in the heart all day, when they are with their kids.

My Heart was truly filled with Gratitude this Sunday when we had a lesson on not taking for granted our Spouses when they have a willingness to go to the Lord in Prayer.

I have a testimony that I know that the Lord truly hears and answers our prayers. Jake would not have the job he has today if it weren't for our willingness to humble ourselves before the Lord, and ask him for such a blessing.

He has helped me to bring two beautiful children into this world, and to have the strength and stamina to endure to the end. It is my hope and prayer that we will make it to the end together.

I am Grateful For.....

Okay, so as apart of a new Toronto tradition we will be posting a Sunday Family post, about our gratitude and thoughts on different topics.

This is Jacob. I guess since it''s Our Little Life, not Magen's little life, I'll participate, and not too unwillingingly :). I say unwillingly not because I'm unwilling but because I am not used to doing this. It's like trudging through thick, sticky mud: I'm working against force of habit, and it's the habit of ignoring this blog thingy that I'm posting to.

And that's what I'm grateful for: a wife who knows me and loves me -- and us -- enough to push me into doing things I wouldn't normally do. I'm grateful for our amazing date last night -- what a slacker I am! I'm grateful for Tiana who took care of our kids last night. Man, thank you! It felt so freeing to not have to care for our children, and it allowed us to focus on just the two of us. It was nice. I haven't felt that for a long time :)

My kids are really wonderful. Morgan has pure, heartfelt laughter that makes me envy the carefree joy of childhood. I just think of him speeding through the house laughing all the way, and then stooping down to talk to Eva, making her laugh. There's something so sweet about them. Thank goodness for children to help me grow up and be a man, to help me learn self-restraint and patience. But more than that, it's wonderful having them because it's wonderful having them, because they are at once a part of me and apart from me.

BIRTHDAYS!

Well I just realized that I didn't give any specifics about Morgan's Birthday. Well first we took him to PF Chang's and he gorged himself on rice, crab wontons, and THE GREAT WALL OF CHOCOALTE!!!!! Then we of course had to presents.

Morgan got a ton of books, I think like 60 in all, then his Great- Yaya bought him this really really annoying dog that barks and rolls across the floor. Of course it is like one his favorite things to play, and is on my top ten things I am praying for the batteries to die.

So if you have never been to PF Chang's or you have never ordered the GREAT WALL OF CHOCOLATE you are so missing out. It has to be some of the best chocolate cake ever and it sits on this enormous plate of homemade raspberry sauce. I am telling you it's divine.

Anyway, yesterday was my birthday, and I turned the big 23! WOO HOO! So I of course wanted to go to PF Chang's. Dinner was great! NO KIDS! Jake and I sat at our table for like 2 hours, then we raced to Nordstroms for me to buy some Make-up for my birthday. You have to love the expensive stuff, then it was off to the theater for Prince Caspian.  Oh my goodness, it was so good. Loud, but Good.

Jake: "There is no need for this assault on our eardrums"

Me: "Can I quote you on that"
